Federal Minister McKenna has approved the Environmental Assessment certificate for Woodfibre LNG’s proposal to build an Methane processing plant and export terminal in Howe Sound. Please read our statement.

The future of Howe Sound is now in our hands and we will continue to fight the project.
Let the Minister know how we feel about the approval of this project!

Since early 2015, we have been campaigning to protect Howe Sound from Woodfibre LNG’s plans to build an LNG export terminal and have LNG tankers traveling up and down Howe Sound.

To make sure the building of Woodfibre LNG will not happen, this is what we all have to do!

Contact Minister McKenna now! And let her know how you feel about the approval of this project and about Howe Sound.

You can write, draw, photograph, include selfies, couplies, pictures of you and your family, include messages in your photographs.

These are the issues you can bring up for Howe Sound:

  • Protect our waters, our Herring, our Dolphins, our Whales from Woodfibre LNG and LNG tankers!
  • The proposed Cooling system for the LNG plant does not mix with Herring spawn in the eara!
  • LNG super tankers should not be traveling close to communities and busy marine areas!
  • Woodfibre LNG is an investment in fossil fuel infrastructure, something we must stop doing!

It is really important to focus your letter, comment or message on Howe Sound!

You can contact the Minister as follows:

Send us a copy too or let us know what you did: info@ccbowen.ca

As of Feb 9 the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency is accepting public comments until March 1 on the estimate of Woodfibre LNG’s upstream Green House Gas emissions.

Our MP, Pam Goldsmith-Jones, it taking this last issue very seriously. Please attend the Town Hall meetings our MP has organized at the end of the month.

Together we can do this!

The CCBowen team.

PS
If you want to include the larger context, you can use:

  • The Liberals must keep their campaign promise and stop subsidizing fossil fuel infrastructure investments,
  • Put an end to Methane gas fracking: it pollutes water, it contaminates soil and it destroys wildlife habitat.
  • We can never meet Canada’s commitments made in Paris, if BC LNG goes online,
  • We must ramp up investments in renewable energy extraction and infrastructure.
