Re: Public safety and LNG Super tankers in Howe Sound, B.C.
Dear Minister,
I am contacting you to express my deep concern about the TERMPOL process Transport Canada is using to assess the risks to the public due to LNG Super tankers sailing in Howe Sound, B.C. to and from the proposed Woodfibre LNG export terminal.
I consider the use of outdated scientific information to assess matters of public safety to be a case of gross negligence.
I don’t want a disaster of the proportions of the Lac Mégantic disaster to happen in Howe Sound or anywhere in Canada.
I trust that you, as Minister of Transport, will take the necessary steps in this pressing matter to make sure that this disregard for public safety is addressed, and the risks of LNG tankers coming into Howe Sound will be reviewed using up to date and accurate scientific information.
Looking forward to your timely reply, I remain.
Sincerely,
Your name
